An Extremely Convincing WhatsApp Spoof Was Downloaded More Than 1 Million Times

An extremely convincing copy of the popular WhatsApp messenger on Google Play was spotted and was downloaded by more than 1 million users, who instead of a messaging tool it was loaded up with a bunch of ads.
As reported by Hacker News, the clone WhatsApp was nearly indistinguishable from the real Whatsapp as it had invisible space placed at the end of the developer’s name on google play store.
After attracting so many users, the rogue developer apparently changed the infringing name on their own.
Obviously Google has shown no seriousness in attempting to protect Google Play users, as there are too many spoof apps in there.
